Naturally facilitating spiritual connections with God, with His world, within ourselves and with each other.
Spiritual Retreats Activities
Workshop Calendar : Registration Fees : Workshops Activities
This is a Christian based spiritual retreat. We serve our Lord Jesus Christ. It is He who owns everything around us, the forest, the waters, the sky, the buildings. We strive to make our spiritual retreat a light that guides our guests to the real and lasting peace of knowing, seeing, sharing and feeling God's presence. We are driven to provide other Christians with a safe place to relax in a family atmosphere wilderness setting.
Things to do While at the Christian Retreat
There are many things to do while spending time with us on spiritual retreat. Nature, in itself, provides ample teachings and opportunities to grow closer to God. We strive to be an eco-friendly place encouraging our guests to engage themselves with outdoor activities such as canoeing, beach sports, catch and release fishing, nature hiking, wildlife photography.
We provide shuttle service to groups to some of the many interesting venues in our region. There's places to tour, play golf, wildlife refuge for wounded wild animals ...
Most of all though, we have a place that encourages people to grow. Grow in the Lord. We facilitate this by inviting captivating teachers, providing interesting seminars itineraries and allowing our guests the time and resources that they need to leave here recreated.
Going off by yourself, to find a quiet place to pray in the wilderness is directly in keeping with Jesus' example. He too, at times, seemed spiritually drained and was frequently cited as retreating from His disciples and His followers to pray in the wilderness; to seek strength and direction from His Father.
The first and last days of the itinerary are set aside for arrival and departure. This gives our guests flexibility for when they show up and leave, schedule Free Time activities, get a chance to settle in and get comfortable with us, each other and our surroundings.
Free Time This is an important part of our spiritual retreat program. Couples should enjoy free time together but are also encouraged to spend free time with other couples. There's tons of other fun things to do around the resort. You can use Free Time to relax, wander down a trail by yourselves for while, paddle a canoe, find a place to pray, sit by the beach, play our on-site mini-golf course, go into town ... It's free time.
Spa Treatment - Unfortunately This Not Available For This Workshop - We will have a registered massage therapist, and an esthetician / beautician on site throughout the week. This a Free Time activity for women and the women will need to book appointments with the spa treatment professionals when they get here. Some of our women guests will be due for some pampering and we will do what we can to make them feel alive and beautiful again. Hour-long massage sessions and beauty treatments with the beautician are available for our guests. This part of our week-long seminar is at an extra cost payable directly to the spa treatment professionals.
Golfing - Unfortunately This Not Available For This Workshop - Golfers delight in playing the prestigious Le Golf du Belvédère, an 18 hole golf course within a forty minute ride from the retreat center. Passes are available. This is a Free Time activity that both men and women and you will need to book appointments prior to arriving here. Le Golf du Belvédère has golf clubs, carts etc. available for rent.
Nature Trails - Our wilderness paths are exceptionally beautiful this time of year, exciting to the senses, with glorious combinations of colours, sounds and smells. We have especially designed these for Christians. Each trail has it's own spiritual theme, with stations at short intervals from one another, whereas one or two can sit at peace on benches and meditate on the scriptures posted at each station. This is a humble way to naturally feel at one with God in His awesome world.
Canoe Expedition - We launch 12 seated Voyageur styled canoes from our dock. We also have two-people canoes. Everybody helps to paddle to the extent that they can or cannot. The colours of the trees reflecting off the calm waters, the distant calls of lonely loons and the pure fresh northern air create the atmosphere for this relaxing trip. We spend the best part of the day exploring a wonderful small river that leads into a very active beaver pond. Part of this trip involves a brief study of beaver lodges and dams. Ever wonder why beaver build dams? There are several reasons but the primary reason may surprise you. Wildlife photography opportunities abound. This is a good chance to sneak up on moose, black bears and wolves wandering to the water's edges for a drink. We bring a shore lunch and enjoy a beautiful time on a naturally created beach. The women may want to bring a fall sweater for this trip. We won't go out if it's raining. Our schedule is flexible enough to wait for a nicer day. P.F.D.'s are provided for everyone, although not mandatory to wear, they must be within reach. Please bring your cameras.
Golden Tour - Nearby the spiritual retreat center is La Cité de l'Or, a restored gold mine where visitors can tour both the surface and the underground. As we curl around the gentle hills on our autumn trips to this facility, nature provides us with some exceptionally beautiful scenery. This is a full pass with the option to go underground, explore the surface activities in an ancient mine and visit the historic mining village including the "historical house". We offer this to our guests as an opportunity to expand their knowledge of our culture here, how it originated from deeply devoted Christians, both French and English, with undying wills to settle in this wild land.
Bonfire - This is a wonderful activity here at the retreat. We build a big fire at dusk in the fire pit and gather around for a devotion, then individual prayer and then have a weenie roast and sing-a-along with all of the Gospel favourites and hymns. A great time for praise!
Refuge Pageau - A trip to La Refuge Pageau will leave you with the feeling and hope that somebody cares about God's creature. This is a special a place where injured animals from the wild are given another chance to live out their lives. Hurt animals such as wolves, lynxes, great owls, porcupines and racoons are a few out of the many animals that take refuge here. Michel and Louise Pageau do tremendous, inspiring work and the real miracle is that some of these animals get well enough to go home. Please bring your cameras.
