Safety Helmet
Wearing a safety helmet is compulsory, regardless of where you operate a snowmobile.
Minimum Age and Training
The minimum age to operate a Snowmobile is 14 years. A certificate of competence is compulsory for 14 and 15-year-old Snowmobile riders.
Speed Limit
Except when otherwise indicated, the snowmobilespeed limit is 70 km/h.
Compulsory Equipment
Your Snowmobile must have the compulsory safety equipment, which cannot be removed or modified.
Driving on Public Roads and Driver's Permits
Other than in exceptional cases provided in the Act respecting off-highway vehicles, it is forbidden to operate a Snowmobile on public roads. You may only cross or ride on public roads at authorized locations indicated by traffic signs. Only the manager of the road network ( designated by the Ministry of Transportation or by the municipalities ) may grant an authorization to use a public road. To use a public road, according to the conditions of the Act, a Snowmobile operator must hold a valid driver's permit.
